School Profile
Middle-level education is not just a level between the elementary school and the high school; it has a purpose of its own. Middle-level education is a child-centered program that focuses on the unique characteristics and needs of middle-level students: academic, personal, social and emotional. The student in the middle-level grades, typically between the ages of 10 and 14, undergoes profound transformations physically, emotionally, socially, psychologically, and intellectually, which are unique in the individual's life. The transformation from childhood to adolescence is one of the most crucial and least understood phases of personal growth. The challenge to our middle-school program is to make the transition a positive period of development for the young; one for which they emerge with high hopes and the will to achieve to the best of their abilities. The Valhalla Middle School program provides an instructional team of teachers for each grade level. Students have available an advisory period during the day and various after-school clubs and athletic activities. |
